Physician

It is necessary to seek guidance from a physician to ensure compliance with the requirements.

CPR/AED Training

An individual in possession of an automated external defibrillator should have expected users complete a course in automated external defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation that is provided or endorsed by the American Heart Association or another nationally recognized organization.

EMS Notification

An individual possessing an automated external defibrillator may inform an emergency medical services organization about the defibrillator's location.

Maintenance

The defibrillator must be maintained and tested in accordance with the manufacturer's operational guidelines.

Notification of Use

Emergency medical services should be activated promptly.
