Physician
A prescription from a physician is necessary for an automated external defibrillator.
CPR/AED Training
Adequate training in automated external defibrillator use must be provided to a suitable number of employees to ensure that at least one trained employee is typically on-site in a public setting during regular business hours

Maintenance
The AED must undergo regular maintenance, inspections, and servicing, ensuring that the battery and electrodes comply with the manufacturer's guidelines. It should be stored in a readily accessible location for quick retrieval during regular business hours, and its presence and location must be clearly labeled.
Notification of Use
Every location should create a protocol to contact 9-1-1 and activate the emergency medical services system promptly upon recognizing the potential need for the automated external defibrillator.
