Physician
A physician's prescription is mandatory.
CPR/AED Training
Defibrillator users must undergo training in defibrillator usage as determined by the Department of Health and Human Services Regulation and Licensure.
EMS Notification
Individuals obtaining an automated external defibrillator must inform the local EMS service about the defibrillator's presence, location, and type, and any changes in location unless it is intended for use in a private residence, healthcare facility, or practitioner facility.
Maintenance
The defibrillator must be maintained and tested following the manufacturer's guidelines.
Notification of Use
A person acquiring an AED must notify the local EMS about the defibrillator's status, location, type, and any changes in location, except for defibrillators intended for private residences, healthcare facilities, or practitioner facilities.
