Physician
A licensed physician must oversee the defibrillation program, including personnel training, coordinating with local emergency medical services, approving protocols, devising strategies for deploying automated external defibrillators, and creating an equipment maintenance plan and keeping records.
CPR/AED Training
Every operator of the automated external defibrillator must undergo and pass training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and in using automated external defibrillators in a course approved by the Board of Health.
EMS Notification
It is required to register the AED with the Board of Health.
Maintenance
The defibrillator must be maintained and tested according to the manufacturer's operational guidelines and any Board regulations, and written records of these activities must be kept.
