Physician
Must have a sponsoring physician.
CPR/AED Training
Each operator of an automated external defibrillator must complete an educational training course and refresher training as mandated by the EMS Board.
EMS Notification
Facilities must register with the nearest jurisdictional emergency medical services operational program.
Maintenance
The defibrillator must be maintained, operated, and tested per the manufacturer's guidelines. Written records of maintenance and testing for each AED are required by the EMS Board.
Notification of Use
Immediate notification to emergency medical services via the 911 universal emergency access number is mandatory when using an automated external defibrillator. Additionally, notification to the closest jurisdictional emergency medical services operational program is necessary.
