Physician
In order to ensure compliance, a licensed physician must participate in the training program and placement process.
CPR/AED Training
Every user of the automated external defibrillator must undergo training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of the device, which must be provided or approved by the Texas Department of Health.
EMS Notification
Upon acquiring an automated external defibrillator, the individual or organization must inform the local emergency medical services provider about the presence, location, and model of the automated external defibrillator.
Maintenance
An individual or organization that owns or leases an automated external defibrillator must adhere to the manufacturer's guidelines for maintaining and testing the device.
Notification of Use
An individual or organization administering emergency care to a person experiencing cardiac arrest with an automated external defibrillator must promptly inform the local emergency medical services provider.
