Physician

The site's AED program must involve a licensed physician or medical authority to ensure compliance with training, notification, and maintenance.

CPR/AED Training

Anyone or entity obtaining an AED must ensure that expected users receive training in CPR and AED usage from the American Red Cross, or American Heart Association, or an equivalent nationally recognized course.

EMS Notification

Individuals or entities obtaining an AED must notify the emergency communications district or ambulance dispatch center of the primary EMS provider where the AED will be located.

Maintenance

Individuals or entities obtaining an AED must ensure that the device is maintained and tested according to the manufacturer's operational guidelines.

Notification of Use

Anyone providing emergency care using an AED must activate the EMS system promptly.
