Physician
Involvement of a licensed physician is required to ensure compliance.
CPR/AED Training
An individual or organization obtaining an automated external defibrillator must ensure that any person using the defibrillator has completed and holds a current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillator use from the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or another training program recognized by the Department of Health and Senior Services.
EMS Notification
An individual or organization acquiring an automated external defibrillator must inform the relevant first aid, ambulance, rescue squad, or other applicable emergency medical services provider about the acquisition of the defibrillator, its type, and its location.
Maintenance
An individual or organization obtaining an automated external defibrillator must ensure that the defibrillator is maintained and tested in accordance with the manufacturer's operational guidelines.
Notification of Use
Any individual who uses a defibrillator should promptly seek emergency medical assistance from the relevant first aid, ambulance, or rescue squad.
