2 Reasons You Need Annual AED Inspections

1.You'll have peace of mind, knowing that Cardiac Life is ensuring that your organization’s Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and AED accessories are compliant under local and state laws.

The Federal Cardiac Arrest Survival Act of 2000 was created to recommend placement of AEDs in Federal buildings and to encourage all public gathering places to implement AED programs.

This Act provides Federal Good Samaritan protection for emergency providers who must use an AED on a Sudden Cardiac Arrest victim. Many AED manufacturers have an AED indemnification policy against civil liabilities when AED accessories are maintained and replaced prior to expiration dates.

2. Annual AED Inspections performed by Cardiac Life remove the responsibility and eliminates the time that would otherwise be required of your staff, allowing you to focus on your organization's other goals.
When you schedule your annual appointment you can rest assured that your battery and electrodes will be replaced if necessary, and all manufacturer software upgrades will be assessed. Your rescue ready kits, cabinetry, and signage will also be updated if necessary.

Once your inspection is completed you will receive a comprehensive report with any inspection recommendations sent to the AED Coordinator. If any issues are found with the AED, we offer loaner AEDs of equal make and model, while your AED is being serviced.

The survival rate for a victim of Sudden Cardiac Arrest reduces by 10% every minute that goes by without a shock to the heart from an AED. Any organization with a public access defibrillator scheduling regular annual maintenance and providing CPR/AED Training for their staff is acting with proactive measures toward creating a HeartSafe environment for their employees and others.
