No Ports Available When Downloading AED Data
When downloading data from your Cardiac Science G3 AED, you will need to open ports on your laptop by choosing “Auto Detect Communications Port.” Sometimes, all ports will say “Not Available.”
This means we need to find out which port is recognizing the data cable and open that port.
To do this, follow these steps:
- Click on the Start button of your computer
- Right click on "Computer"
- Select "Manage"
- Select "Systems Tools"
- Select "Device Manager"
- Select "Ports (COM&LPT)" - you will need to un-compress this by clicking on the arrow to the left of the word "Ports"
- You will see the USB Serial Port listed with the Port # - ex: (COM7) or (COM5) - this port must be chosen for RescueLink to get the necessary data
- Once you know which port has the USB, go back to RescueLink
- Under the “Communications” tab, select "Select Communications Port"
- Select the Port number that the laptop recognizes. If it is Port 5, select Port 5 and click OK
- If the port you are looking for does not display, we need to open up more ports on RescueLink
- To do this, click on “Tools” at the top of the screen
- Click on “Options”
- Check the box that says “More Communication Ports” under the “Communications” tab and select the port you need
- Now that you’ve completed these steps, you can go back to the “Communications” tab and select “Get Rescue Data”
