This is a sad reality for thousands, and this year Cardiac Life is working to ensure a Happy Thanksgiving for local families. We want to give back to the community, which is why we are participating in the 2016 Small Business Council (SBC) Cares Thanksgiving Appeal.
It's important to always remember what you're grateful for, and this year we're grateful to the Rochester community. This city is ...

Creating a HeartSafe school is important for the safety of everyone from attendees, teachers, and visitors. Why is it so important to have AEDs?
Sudden Cardiac Arrest can strike at any age
Sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in America, taking more than 500,000 lives each year. 7,000 of these victims are young people. Because anyone can be at risk of Sudden Cardiac Arrest, placing the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in a central location, where the most people congregate is a smart move for schools.
Victims of Sudden Cardiac Arrest don’t have much time

Sudden Cardiac Arrest is a leading cause of death in the United States. These deaths occur without warning, and 95% of the Sudden Cardiac Arrests take place outside of the hospital.
Having an AED on hand will give the victim a greater chance of survival. The average wait time for EMS to respond to a 911 call is over 10 minutes. If you’re located in a rural area or a busy city, the wait time could be even longer, often over 15 minutes. Each minute that goes by without treatment reduces survival by 10%.
Parents and employees will feel safer knowing that the ...

We’re raising awareness about AEDs, and we need your help to spot them on TV!
To begin creating HeartSafe communities across America, we need to first raise awareness of what Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are, and why they're so important. AEDs are used when someone suffers from Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). SCA is a leading cause of death in America, taking the lives of over 500,000 people annually. Many people don’t know what SCA is, or that it can affect anyone, anywhere, at any time. When someone suffers from SCA their heart is in an irregular rhythm, and they ...

When selecting a college an important question to ask is whether or not there’s an AED located in the residence halls. An AED is a machine that shocks the heart of a victim of Sudden Cardiac Arrest. With most Sudden Cardiac Arrests occurring at home, the dorm should be the most important place to have an AED. CPR performed straight away, coupled with an AED machine gives the victim a 90% chance of survival. The chance of survival drops by 10% every minute that goes by without an AED. If a victim of Sudden Cardiac Arrest is left to rely solely ...
